The People’s Voice in Addis Ababa: Africa Unites for a Just and Green Transition

Voix du Paysan to Train and Inform Citizens: A Commitment to Social and Climate Justice

On the eve of the Africa Climate Summit (ACS2), the People’s Assembly is emerging as a strategic space where civil society movements and African trade unions co-create innovative solutions for a just and equitable energy transition. Under the theme Accelerating Global Climate Solutions: Financing Resilient and Green Development for Africa, this initiative aims to amplify community voices against extractivist development models based on oil and gas. The goal is to steer the summit toward concrete actions focused on adaptation, resilience, phasing out fossil fuels, and equitable access to clean energy.

A Chorus of African Voices for Climate Justice

Among the confirmed speakers are nearly thirty influential figures from across the continent, bringing diverse and complementary perspectives: Omar Elmawi (Kenya), Wafa Misrar (Morocco), Baboucarr Nyang (Gambia), Tsegaye Gobeba (Ethiopia), Edris Yesuf (Ethiopia), Martha Tinny Molema (Namibia), Marina Agoritmvo (Ghana), Tendai Makanaka (Zimbabwe), Shereen Talaat (Tunisia), Janet Milongo (Kenya), Amy Thorpe (South Africa), Iskander Erzini Vernoît (Morocco), Seble Samuel (Ethiopia), Mohamed Adow (Kenya), Boitumelo Molete (South Africa), Mwanahamisi Singano (Tanzania), Natalie Mukundane K.
