Stop the 52 Oil Blocks: A Webinar Mobilizes Youth and Media for a More Sustainable DRC

Voix du Paysan: Educating and Informing Citizens for Social and Climate Justice

Ahead of the official launch of the Draw the Line campaign, a major webinar will be held this Saturday, September 6, 2025, to raise awareness about the harmful impacts of oil projects in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Titled 52 OIL BLOCKS: STAKES AND IMPACTS IN THE DRC, this online event aims to inform and alert the public about the social and environmental consequences of hydrocarbon exploitation. While oil may promise economic benefits, it also poses serious threats to local communities, forests, and ecosystems.

The webinar will feature two panels, with the first focusing on Understanding Oil Projects in the DRC. Through expert and activist insights, participants will explore the risks tied to these oil blocks while identifying sustainable alternatives. The event seeks to encourage a collective reflection on development that respects human rights, biodiversity, and the well-being of future generations.

The webinar will also highlight the strategic role of youth and media in the fight for climate justice. Through education, mobilization, and civic engagement, these actors are called to draw a clear line against destructive policies. The event is open to all, and participation can be accessed via the following link: https://meet.google.com/qyk-bbca-ruy. Join us at 3:00 PM for two hours of impactful dialogue in support of a greener, fairer, and more resilient DRC.
