Voix du Paysan: Informing and Empowering Citizens in the Pursuit of Social and Climate Justice.
Scorching heatwaves, devastating floods, prolonged droughts, and increasingly violent storms are no longer isolated or exceptional events. They have become recurring manifestations of a climate crisis that is disrupting societies, weakening economies, and threatening the food security of millions of people. Behind these disasters are shattered lives, displaced families, and communities forced to adapt to a future marked by uncertainty.

Yet, as ordinary people bear the heaviest burden, the world’s largest oil, gas, and coal companies continue to post record-breaking profits. For decades, their business model has relied on the intensive extraction and combustion of fossil fuels—the primary source of the greenhouse gas emissions driving global warming. The contrast is stark: profits are privatized, while the costs of climate destruction are borne by citizens and vulnerable communities.
The call for testimonies launched by Greenpeace highlights a fundamental truth: behind climate statistics are real human stories. Giving a voice to those affected by climate change means putting people back at the center of the conversation and recognizing that climate justice cannot remain an empty slogan. Policymakers and corporate leaders alike can no longer ignore these testimonies, which reveal the true scale and human cost of the climate crisis.

The time for promises and half-measures has passed. The world’s biggest polluters must be held fully accountable for their environmental and financial responsibilities, while governments must accelerate the transition toward sustainable energy systems. This is no longer only about protecting the planet—it is about safeguarding the fundamental right of present and future generations to live in a world where the common good finally takes precedence over the profits of a powerful few.
