Voice of the Peasant to train and inform citizens: a commitment to social and climate justice
At ISTou-Goma, professional training students took part in 4 days of practical Culinary Arts sessions from Tuesday, September 30 to Friday, October 3, 2025, revealing promising talents in a rapidly expanding field. Wearing white coats and fully focused behind their stoves, these young learners experimented with recipes, techniques, and presentations worthy of fine kitchens. This hands-on moment of learning, captured in full action, illustrates the importance of practice-based education in developing concrete skills essential in today’s world, but especially in the city of Goma, a growing tourist destination.

Encouraging passionate and engaged youth in hands-on learning at ISTou-Goma
These students deserve encouragement for their commitment, seriousness, and determination to learn a profession that will open many doors for them. They embody the hope of a youth that is taking charge of its own future, equipping itself, and aiming for excellence. Thanks to a training program rooted in practice, ISTou-Goma is giving them the opportunity to master real-world skills in an environment that fosters innovation and creativity, said trainer Kitumaini Bizuzi. This practical exercise brought together 16 students at the Bakanja Reception Center in the city of Goma, North Kivu.

Becoming job creators and builders of a sustainable local economy in Goma
For the students, this journey should not stop at training: it must become the starting point of an entrepreneurial vision. We are called to create our own restaurants, bakeries, or catering services, thus contributing to the fight against unemployment and to the local economic development of the city of Goma, said student Habimana Mitsi, whom we met during their practical exercises. By emphasizing practice over theory, ISTou-Goma is brilliantly meeting the real needs of society. The students who took part in this practical training did not stop thanking the academic authorities for their commitment to shaping a competent, autonomous youth with its eyes set on the future.
