#StopEACOP: an African and global mobilization to denounce a century of TotalEnergies’ destructive impact

Voix du Paysan, committed to educating and informing citizens, stands for social and climate justice.

As TotalEnergies marks its 100th anniversary, voices are rising across the African continent to denounce the devastating impact of its operations. From local communities to civil society organizations, the verdict is clear: rather than sustainable development, TotalEnergies’ legacy in Africa has meant biodiversity loss, river pollution, forced displacement, and growing militarization around extraction sites.

#StopEACOP: On the Frontlines Against TotalEnergies in Africa

The EACOP (East African Crude Oil Pipeline) project, a symbol of the multinational’s extractivist excesses, is now the focal point of resistance. Through the #StopEACOP campaign, environmental and grassroots movements are demanding the cancellation of this pipeline, which threatens fragile ecosystems and the livelihoods of thousands in Uganda and Tanzania. For opponents, the project epitomizes everything that must be stopped if Africa is to protect its resources and its future.

#StopEACOP: Toward a Global Mobilization for Climate Justice and Community Rights

The resistance against TotalEnergies has taken on a continental—and even global—dimension. By denouncing the impunity of multinational corporations, activists are calling for a just energy transition centered on human rights and people’s needs. For them, no corporate celebration can overshadow the injustices on the ground: now is the time for climate justice, not commemoration.
