Voix du Paysan to train and inform citizens: a commitment to social and climate justice.
Youth mobilized around the future of Africa’s biodiversity
From October 20 to 22, 2025, Kigali hosted the 3rd African Youth Summit on Biodiversity (AYBS 2025), bringing together young leaders from across the continent. Under the theme “Strengthening African Youth Action for the Rapid Implementation of the Global Biodiversity Framework,” the summit assessed youth engagement with the Kunming-Montreal Framework. Workshops, discussions, experience sharing, and networking shaped the event, supported by partners such as IUCN, AWF, and GLFx, focusing on Nature-Based Solutions.

The Congolese delegation mobilized for the protection of the Congo Basin
Among the key interventions, the Congolese delegation strongly emphasized the urgent need to preserve the Congo Basin forest, the world’s second-largest tropical rainforest. This forest, essential for regulating the global climate, is threatened by deforestation, oil projects, and poaching. The delegation called for increased technical and financial support for local initiatives led by young people on the ground.

Concrete solutions driven by youth for the planet’s future
Participants highlighted the decisive role of African youth in implementing the Global Biodiversity Framework. Through innovative local actions, community campaigns, and sustainable projects, young leaders are actively contributing to biodiversity protection. The Kigali summit strengthened a pan-African dynamic in favor of a young, inclusive, and firmly committed environmental leadership.
