Voix du Paysan to educate and empower citizens: a commitment to social and climate justice
A Moral Voice Against Destructive Projects
In Addis Ababa, on the sidelines of the 2nd African Climate Summit, a Faith Actors Briefing brought together several African religious leaders to call for climate governance rooted in ethics, justice, and the protection of communities. The event featured a powerful speech by Bishop Coffi Roger, who emphasized the moral responsibility of believers in the face of environmental destruction. He strongly condemned harmful extractive projects, such as the EACOP pipeline, calling for their immediate halt in the name of social and environmental justice.

Faith and Ecology: A Shared Fight for Human Dignity
The religious leaders present highlighted the deep connection between spirituality and ecology, stressing the sacred duty to protect creation. For them, protecting the environment is about defending life, peace, and human dignity, especially for the most vulnerable populations. Their collective voice aims to strengthen the influence of religious communities in political and economic climate processes.

Mobilizing Consciences for a Sustainable Future
This religious advocacy goes beyond symbolic declarations. It represents a concrete commitment to raising awareness among the faithful, engaging decision-makers, and building interfaith mobilization across the continent. By uniting faith and ecology, these leaders offer a new and powerful dynamic in the fight against extractive abuses and for a sustainable, ethical, and inclusive future in Africa.
