Considering that in a more operational context, we are currently witnessing numerous actions referred to as environmental protection and promotion of grassroots communities. These different types of actions, whether already established or still in the planning stages, result from initiatives by either state or parastatal organizations, mutual groups, or private individuals and remain upstream and downstream of efforts to combat climate change and global warming.
Rights, Environment, and Citizenship is a group for discussions and debates on current major environmental challenges, where members advocate for change, ensure and support lobbying and advocacy for the protection of human and environmental rights defenders, and promote environmental values, as development can only occur by respecting human and environmental rights.
Rights, Environment, and Citizenship has the following objectives:
Global Objective: – Raise awareness among citizens for better consideration of the environment and citizenship as human rights, while strengthening related knowledge and voluntary exchanges in the sub-region.
Specific Objectives: – Promote citizen debate on international, national, and local environmental issues while supporting the government in implementing its environmental policy and helping citizens acquire the values, attitudes, motivations, knowledge, ethics, and skills required to protect and improve human and environmental rights.
– Reconcile rights, the environment, and citizenship by educating communities on environmental citizenship across all fields (health, education, politics, etc.);
– Create an African network for communication and experience exchange across different countries, regions, provinces, and territories within the framework of « environmental education for young people »
